The Quest Goals
Beaches and oceans are a way of life for Florida communities. When beaches and oceans become contaminated - communities and marine wildlife suffer. Through education, participation and appreciation, the preservation goals of Florida's coastal and ocean heritage can be advanced, leaving a legacy of clean beaches and oceans for all to enjoy. In some case, appreciation is not achievable for families and children stricken with severe medical conditions. Programs that target their needs are essential to bridging the coastal and ocean appreciation gap.
In partnership with the Children's Cancer Center and the Florida Aquarium and under the Aqua/Eco-Kites program, activities will be funded and created targeting the families of the cancer center. Our hope is to bring the ocean, star fishes and sand castles and provide a lifting spirit through coastal and ocean appreciation. From the 2007 funds, two camps were created, the Sickle Cell Camp and the Oncology Camp. Both are summer camps to be held at the Florida Aquarium in 2008.
