Benefiting the 1Voice Foundation - Helping Children Fight Cancer
Beaches and oceans are a way of life for Florida communities. When beaches and oceans become contaminated - communities and marine wildlife suffer. Through education, participation and appreciation, the preservation goals of Florida's coastal and ocean heritage can be advanced, leaving a legacy of clean beaches and oceans for all to enjoy. In some case, appreciation is not achievable for families and children stricken with severe medical conditions. Programs that target their needs are essential to bridging the coastal and ocean appreciation gap.
In partnership with the 1Voice Foundation and the Florida Aquarium and under the “Sand Angels” program, activities will be funded and created targeting the families of the foundation. Our hope is to bring the ocean, star fishes and sand castles to the families and children stricken with cancer and provide a lifting spirit through coastal and ocean appreciation. 1Voice Foundation The Cause:The 1Voice Foundation is not-for-profit 501(c)(3) that unites families who have been effected by childhood cancer with comprehensive information on treatment facilities and resources, arming parents with the information they need to battle this disease. By providing with vital information on hospitals, treatment centers or pharmaceutical companies, they learn about their child's form of cancer. Many forms of childhood cancer are rare, which sometimes makes it difficult to find other families that are fighting the same form of the disease. Our goal is to connect these families with support and information.
The Care: The 1Voice Foundation works directly with families, various organizations, hospitals, and research facilities within the childhood cancer community to build programs that address the needs that exist. From financial assistance via grants, to in-patient hospital care packages, sponsored family trips, gift cards, tickets to events, etc.; we identify areas where the support of our donors can make the biggest difference in the lives of children battling cancer. With the support of donors, 1Voice Foundation provides funding to the most innovative, promising research that is taking place at medical institutions across the country. Working with a Research Task Force, comprised of the nation's leading researchers and doctors, we are identifying initiatives that hold great hope and are in need of funding
The Cure: The 1Voice Foundation began in 2008 when several members of the Tampa community that had been dealing strictly with the research and clinical trial portion of childhood cancer recognized a need for family input and interaction. They immediately reached out to a group of mothers of children that had been diagnosed with childhood cancer and lost their battle.
Through their battle, this group of mothers identified several needs they had when their child was diagnosed with this terrible disease and felt there were several shortcomings that needed to be addressed. It then became the vision of this foundation, with the support of these amazing moms, to band together and unite as one voice in battling childhood cancer in honor of their own children and the countless others that are currently fighting this disease. The 1Voice Foundation recognized key areas that needed to come together under ONE organization in order to make a dramatic impact on childhood cancer both nationally and worldwide.
